Shivalik Public School

Shivalik Public School is located up in the Gangath area of Kangra, not too far from Raja Ka Talab. Being in this part of the district means we get some pretty views of the hills, especially when the weather is clear. The school is a bit of a local landmark for the people living in the surrounding villages. It’s a sturdy building, which is good because the winters can get a bit chilly up here. We have a lot of kids who come in from the nearby areas, some walking quite a distance to get to class on time. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed compared to schools in the big cities. We have a playground where you can see the pond in the distance, and that’s where the students spend their lunch hour. The teachers here are local folks who have been part of the Shivalik family for a long time. They know the parents and they know which families are struggling or doing well. We don't have a lot of extra frills or fancy equipment. It’s mostly just chalkboards, old desks, and a lot of hard work from the students. On rainy days, the clouds sit low over the school and it feels very quiet. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids are learning what they should. It’s a simple life here in the Kangra district, and our school is just a small part of that community.
