Prayas Public School

We are located right near the Ghatot Post Office in Sukhar, which is a quiet spot here in Kangra. Most people around here know us because we’ve been running this school for quite a while now. It isn't a massive building with fancy glass walls or anything like that. Instead, it’s just a place where the kids from the nearby villages come to learn their lessons and play in the dirt during break time. Sometimes the monkeys from the hills get a bit too close, but we manage. Our staff is mostly local folks who walk or take a short bus ride to get here every morning. You can hear the children reciting their tables from the road if you pass by around ten o'clock. We try to keep the classrooms clean, though with so many feet coming in and out, there's always a bit of dust. It gets quite cold in the winters, so we make sure the kids stay wrapped up. It’s a simple life here. We don't have a big office or a secretary to answer every call immediately, but if you drop by, someone will usually be around to show you the registers. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure everyone behaves. It’s hard work keeping everything organized, but we’ve got a good rhythm going now. Most of the parents are our neighbors, so we see them at the market anyway.
