S K S Hs School is situated at 16, At Chapar Ta Kalayanpur in Jamnagar, 361001. It is a bit of a walk for some of the students who live further out in the village, but they usually make it on time. The school is a high school, so we deal with the teenagers who are often more interested in talking to their friends than listening to the lecture. It is a very normal place with walls that have been painted a few too many times and floors that show the wear of many feet. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. We just have a few of us in the office and the teachers in the classrooms. Jamnagar can get quite dry and dusty, so the school yard is often just a patch of brown earth where the kids play during their breaks. We have the usual routine of morning prayers, then classes, then a short break for some tea or snacks. It is not a fancy institution by any means. We just try to make sure there are enough benches for everyone and that the roof doesn't leak when it finally does rain. The teachers are local people who understand the life of the students here. We don’t make big promises about the future; we just try to get through the syllabus for the year and help the kids pass their exams. It is honest, hard work every single day.
