Our school is located right at Gayatri Chowk in the Navagam area of Jamnagar. It is a spot that most of the locals around here know pretty well. The building itself has been standing for many years now, and you can see it shows its age in places, but it still does the job. Every morning when the bells ring, the kids come running into their classrooms. We have a small courtyard where everyone gathers for the morning assembly before the heat gets too bad. Since Jamnagar can get very hot, we try to keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze might be blowing through. The walls are painted a simple color and we have some old charts pinned up by the teachers to help with the lessons. It gets a bit noisy because of the traffic moving through the chowk outside, but you honestly get used to it after a few days. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to sit and wait or move the chairs closer to the windows so the students can see their books. The staff room is just a small space where we keep all the registers and the piles of notebooks. Most of us have been working here for a long time. We know the families and have seen many kids grow up and move on to other things. It is just a steady, simple place to work in a busy part of town.
