Krishna School

Krishna School is situated in Mota Kalavad, which is part of the Jamnagar district. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city center. The surroundings are mostly open space and some local houses. The school building is a plain structure, painted a color that hides the dust well enough. In this part of Gujarat, the sun gets really hot, so the thick walls of the school are good for keeping the heat out during the midday classes. We have a small staff who handles everything from teaching to fixing the leaky taps. The playground is just a flat area with some dirt and a few trees at the edges. You won’t find any high-tech equipment here. We use what we have, like old maps on the walls and plenty of chalk. The kids are mostly from the nearby villages. They bring their lunch in metal tins and eat together under the shade when it’s break time. There’s a lot of laughter and shouting during those minutes. The school bell is just a heavy piece of metal that someone hits with a hammer. It’s loud enough for everyone to hear. We don’t have a big budget for fancy things, so we just focus on the books and the basic work. It’s a practical place for practical people. When the day is over, the dust settles and the building sits quiet until the next morning.
