Shib Nagar Farmers Producer Company Limited. We are based in Shibnagar village, right at plot number 229. It’s in the Salugara area near Jalpaiguri. Life here revolves around the seasons and what the ground is giving us. We formed this company to bring the local farmers together because it's hard to survive alone. Most of us have been working these fields since we were kids. Our office is just a small building in the village where we meet after the day's work is done. It gets pretty humid here in Jalpaiguri and the rain can be a real problem some months, but we deal with it. We’re mostly focused on getting our produce to the right places without losing too much money to the guys in the middle. It’s a constant juggle. Everyone in the group has their own way of doing things, so we spend a lot of time talking and figuring out a middle ground. The Salugara post office is where we get our mail, but mostly we just see each other in person. It’s a very local thing. We know the land here really well. We don't have fancy equipment, just our hands and some basic tools. We’re just trying to make sure the families in Shibnagar can keep farming for another generation. It’s hard work, and the pay isn't always great, but it’s what we know and what we do.
