Jalpaiguri Agomani Farmers Producercompany Limited is a group we formed in the Khariakamatpara area. We are based at C/O Janmenjoy Roy. If you are wandering around Jalpaiguri, you’ll find our village is a place where farming is the main thing everyone talks about. Janmenjoy Roy’s place is where we meet up to discuss what needs to be done. We chose the name Jalpaiguri Agomani Farmers Producercompany Limited to represent our roots here. Khariakamatpara is a small community where everyone knows everyone else’s business, mostly. We don't have a formal office with a receptionist or anything. It's just a room where we keep our files and sit down for a cup of tea while we talk about the crops. The weather in Jalpaiguri can be quite wet, which is good for some things but makes getting around the village a bit muddy sometimes. We don’t mind it much because that’s just how it is. We aren't trying to be a big corporation; we are just local people trying to work together. Most days you’ll find some of us over at Janmenjoy's place, sorting through papers or planning for the next season. It’s a simple life and a simple way of running things. We don't need much more than a roof over our heads and a bit of space to organize our work. There are no fancy speeches here, just people talking about seeds and the coming harvest.
