Barobisha Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are the Barobisha Farmers Producer Company Limited. Our main spot is at Ashwini Kumar Das’s place in Teliparabarobisha. It is right in the northern part of the state, near the border. We are all local people who have been farming these lands for a long time. This company was started so we could pool our resources and not get pushed around by the big buyers. We meet up at the house and talk about what we are going to plant or how the prices are looking. It is very informal. There are always chickens running around outside and the sound of the market nearby. We don't have a big office with air conditioning. We just use what we have. Most of us are more comfortable in the fields than behind a desk. We handle things like seeds, fertilizers, and getting the harvest to the right place. It is a lot of coordination between different families in the village. If one person’s tractor breaks, someone else helps out. That is just how things work here in Teliparabarobisha. We are just trying to make sure our families can keep farming and that the work we do actually pays off. It is hard, physical work, and we don't have any illusions about it being easy. We just work together to get through the seasons and hope for a decent crop every year.
