Somthana Farmers Producer Company Limited is located right at Gut No. 489 in Somthana. It’s part of the Badnapur area in Jalna, which is where most of our members live and work. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles here. It's just a group of farmers who decided that working as one might be better than everyone struggling on their own. The ground around here is okay if you treat it right, but getting the supplies you need at a fair price is always the tricky part. We spend a lot of time talking about fertilizers and which crops might do better this year. It’s hard to predict anything with the way things are going lately. Our office is just a simple space where we keep our records and meet up when we aren't busy with the plowing or the picking. Dealing with the market in Jalna can be stressful, so having the company helps us feel like we have a bit more say in what happens. We aren't trying to be some huge corporation. We just want to do right by the people who live in Somthana and Badnapur. Usually, someone is around to chat if you have questions about what we are doing with the collective. It’s a lot of work, and some days are longer than others, but we keep at it because it's the only way to get by in this business.
