Sodhi-Bodhi Farmer Producer Company Limited

We work out of Malkit Singh’s place in Bodhi village, which is right by the Umri post office. Malkit is the son of Vasakha Singh, and his house has always been a bit of a hub for people around here. Since we started the Sodhi-Bodhi Farmer Producer Company, we’ve just used the extra space he had to get our things organized. It’s a real village setting, so you’ll hear the tractors going by and the cows in the distance while we’re trying to count up the harvest numbers. We aren't some big corporation from the city; we’re just a group of farmers who decided it was better to work together than on our own. Most days involve a lot of sitting around the courtyard talking about the weather and how the crops are doing this season. We don't have a computer for everything, so a lot of our notes are still kept in those big register books with the red covers. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us and everyone knows where they stand. Sometimes the mud gets a bit thick on the road after it rains, making it hard to get to the house, but we manage. People know to look for Malkit’s name when they’re coming through Bodhi. It’s an honest way to spend the day, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
