Shri. Govind Prabhu Producer Company

Down in Sarangpur, which is in the Ambad area of Jalna, you’ll find the Shri. Govind Prabhu Producer Company. We operate out of House No. 22. It’s a small place, but it’s where all the big decisions for our group happen. Farming around here isn't easy, and the dust seems to get into everything. We set this company up so we could pool our resources. Instead of everyone buying their own small bags of fertilizer at a high price, we go in together. It’s common sense, really. The house is usually full of people during the morning hours before everyone heads out to the fields. We have a lot of paperwork to keep track of, which sits in stacks on the table. We don't have any secretaries. We do the typing and the filing ourselves, usually late at night when the field work is done. It’s a simple life in Sarangpur. We know our neighbors and we know the land. The company name is on a small board, but otherwise, it just looks like any other house in the village. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation. We just want to make sure that the people who actually do the work in the sun get to keep a little more of the money. It's about looking out for each other at H. No. 22 and making sure the farm stays viable for next year.
