Bhausaheb Puraji Rathod’s place is where we mostly handle our company business and keep our papers. We named the group after the Swami because of our local traditions, but our everyday life is just about the crops and the changing weather. Farming in Ambad has its ups and downs, mostly depending on how the monsoon behaves each year. We are just a bunch of neighbors who thought it was better to combine our efforts than to compete against each other. We don't have a corporate style or a big fancy board of directors. We are usually out in our fields from dawn until it gets too dark to see the plants. The paperwork usually gets done on kitchen tables or on the porch in the evenings when the work is finished. It is a bit unorganized at times, but we make it work because we have to. We worry about things like the price of diesel and the cost of transport to the city. By working together, we try to keep those costs down for everyone in our little group. We aren't looking to become a giant company, just a solid group of farmers in Vasantnagar helping each other out. It is a hard life, but we like being our own bosses.
