If you're looking for us, we are at House Number 909 in Mahakala. That's in the Ambad area of Jalna. It’s a farmer producer company, so it’s really just a group of us from around here trying to manage our farming business together. The house is where we keep the records and meet up to talk about the crops. Jalna can be pretty dry, so water is always the big topic of conversation around the table. We have a lot of members who stop by throughout the week. Sometimes the porch is full of people just catching up on news. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who handle the organizing and the heavy lifting. We spend a lot of time on our phones calling around to see who needs what. It’s not a polished operation. There are stacks of bags in the corners and old ledgers on the shelves. We do the work ourselves because that's how it's always been done in Mahakala. When it’s harvest time, things get really hectic and we are working until late at night under the porch light. It’s exhausting but it’s the life we know. We just try to help each other out so nobody gets left behind. It’s a basic way of doing things, but it works for our community here. We just hope for a good rain and a decent price for the grain.
