Out in Dodalgaon, which is in the Ambad area of Jalna, things move at a different pace. Our company, Ramrao Mundhe Agritech Farmers Producer Company Limited, is based at the home of Suresh Ramrao Mundhe. It’s a typical village setup where the business and family life often overlap. You might see kids playing in the yard while we are trying to count bags of fertilizer or talk about the crop rotation for the next season. We use the name Agritech, but we just try to use better tools and seeds than we did before. We aren't tech experts, just farmers who want to do things a bit more efficiently. Jalna can get very dry, so water is always the main topic of conversation at our meetings. We sit on plastic chairs in the shade and figure out how to share resources. There is no corporate ladder here, just a group of relatives and neighbors. We don't spend money on advertising because everyone in the village already knows who we are and where to find Suresh. The paperwork is done by hand mostly, and we keep it all in a few metal trunks. It’s not a shiny office with air conditioning. It’s just a place where honest people come together to try and get a fair deal for their hard work. Some days are tougher than others, especially when the market prices drop, but having the company helps us stay together and keep going through the seasons.
