If you head out to Gat No. 215 in Mamdabad, you’ll find the heart of our little operation. Mamdabad Farmer Producer Company Limited is run by us, the local farmers of Jalna. We usually meet up at Ramakant Baburao Mundhe’s place. He’s one of us, and his house is as good a place as any to talk business. We started this because we were tired of the long trips to the city only to be told our produce wasn't worth much. By forming this company, we can bring our crops together and find better buyers who come to us. Most of us have been working these fields since we were young men. We know every corner of these lands and what grows best in each patch of dirt. It’s a lot of responsibility to run a company on top of the daily chores of milking cows and weeding fields, but we manage. We don't have a fancy website or a big sign. Most people just know where we are by asking around the village. We talk about the rain, the price of diesel, and how to get the tractor fixed. It’s honest work, and we are proud of it. We aren't looking to become millionaires; we just want a fair shake for the hard work we put in under the sun every single day. There is a lot to learn about rules and taxes, but we are doing our best together.
