Gaya-Pragati Agro Producer Company Limited is based in Masegaon, which is in the Ghansawangi area of Jalna. People around here often call the spot Masegaontal. Specifically, we’re located at Asaram Babasaheb’s place. It’s a typical rural spot where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We didn’t start this company to become famous or big. We just noticed that things were getting harder for individual farmers, so we thought we’d try this producer company thing. It’ been a learning process for all of us. We spend a lot of time on the phone or meeting up to discuss the price of fertilizer or when the trucks are coming. The village of Masegaon is where we live and work, so our office is really just part of the farm. We don’t have a marketing budget or a fancy way of speaking. We just tell it like it is. Some days are good, and the crops look healthy, and other days we’re worried about the lack of rain. We handle everything from the planting to the loading of the trucks. It’s a lot of sweat and dirt, and the hours are long, especially when the sun is out. We don't have any polished mission statements. We just try to get the work done and hope for a decent harvest. That’s the reality of it for us here in Jalna. We’re just a bunch of guys trying to make a living and keep the soil productive for the next year without making things too complicated.
