You can find us at Navnath Sudam Daud’s place, which is house number 208 in Anwa. That's over in the Bhokardan area. We are just a group of farmers who call ourselves Dostum. It's a simple name for a simple group of people. We work with the local crops grown in this specific part of Maharashtra. Most of us have been farming since we were just kids, so we know the soil and the weather patterns pretty well. This isn't some fancy air-conditioned office. It's a place where we sit on the porch and talk about the market prices or the lack of rain this month. We try to pool our resources so we can get a slightly better deal on the things we need for the fields. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes the money is very tight, but we keep at it because it’s what we know. The house is always open to the other members of the group. We don't have a receptionist or a website. If the front door is open, someone is usually inside. We deal with whatever is in season, like cotton or maize. The roads out here can be a bit rough after the monsoon, so getting things moved around takes a long time. We just take it day by day. It’s about sticking together as neighbors and making sure every family gets through the season okay.
