Bhanudas Baba Atalkar Agro Producer Company Limited is a group of us working out of Wakulni in the Badnapur area of Jalna. We are located at the house of Kalyankar Avghadat. The name of the company is a nod to the old ways and the people who came before us in this village. We focus on the crops that do well in the Jalna climate, mostly things like cotton or citrus fruits if the water holds up. It’s a real challenge some years. We decided that forming a producer company was the right move because the market can be very unfair to a person with just a few acres. By combining what we have, we can reach more buyers. The atmosphere at our meeting spot is very casual. People come by on their motorcycles, leave them leaning against the wall, and we sit on the porch to discuss the week’s work. There’s a lot of talk about the weather, as there always is with farmers. We don't use any big words or corporate talk because that’s not who we are. We are just trying to keep our traditions alive while making enough money to pay the bills. It’s an honest way to live, even if it is a bit of a struggle sometimes. We don't have a big team of experts, just a bunch of guys who have lived in Wakulni all their lives and know the soil like the back of their hands.
