Shri Krishna Dyeing & Tent Works

Our shop is located at 32 Station Road, which is right across from the Zanana Hospital. We’ve been operating from this same spot for a long time. The main things we do are dyeing fabrics and setting up tents for various events. It’s a messy job sometimes with all the colors and water, but we have a rhythm to it. The back of the shop is where we have the big vats for the dyes. You can usually see pieces of cloth hanging out to dry in the sun. For the tent work, we have poles and heavy fabrics stored in the warehouse area. When someone has a function, we load everything onto a cart and go to their place to set it up. It’s hard manual labor, especially when the weather is bad. My father started this work and now I run it with my sons. We don't have a fancy office or a receptionist. If you want something done, you just come to the counter and talk to us. We use the old methods for dyeing because that's what we know best. Sometimes people bring in old clothes to get them colored again. We also do curtains and covers for weddings. The traffic on Station Road is always heavy, so it’s a bit noisy. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s a small family business and we like it that way.
