We’ve been here at A/1 on the Main Road for a good while now. Malwa Mill is a busy area and the noise from the street never really stops during the day. Sometimes the dust gets in if we leave the front too open but that’s just how it is around here. It’s a simple setup with basic tables and chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. We open up early, usually when the first buses start rolling down the road, and stay until the lights in the nearby shops go out. My cousin helps me out with the orders and the cleaning. It’s not fancy, just a place to sit and eat something hot while the traffic crawls past outside. We see the same people every day, mostly workers from the mill area and folks heading home from the market. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but nobody seems to mind much. We spend most of our time in the back kitchen where it stays pretty warm. It gets hectic around lunchtime when everyone wants to be served at once. I usually stand by the counter taking cash and making sure everyone has enough water. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it’s what we do. The ceiling fans work okay but they make a bit of a clicking sound when they’re on high speed. It's just a regular spot in Malwa Mill where we try to keep things moving and get everyone fed before we go home.
