Eramdam Sangdai Producer Company Limited

Our place is at House No 114 in Uripok Polem Leikai, right in the heart of Imphal. Hijam Renu Devi is the one in charge of Eramdam Sangdai Producer Company Limited. Uripok is always a bit crowded and noisy with the traffic outside, but inside our space, we’re usually focused on whatever we’re producing that month. Being a producer company means we’re all tied together in this. We aren't some distant company with a board of directors you never see. We’re right here in the neighborhood. Some people drop by just to chat about the local news while we work. It’s a very local feel. We started small and we’ve stayed that way, which suits us just fine. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to stop everything, which is frustrating, but we’re used to it by now. We deal with whatever the local producers bring to us. It could be different things depending on the season. We don't have a big polished manual on how to do things; we just learn as we go. The house is often full of bags or crates waiting to be moved. It's not the most organized-looking place if you’re used to big offices, but we know where everything is. We just want to keep the local trade moving and make sure everyone involved gets their share. It’s just daily life for us here in Polem Leikai.
