Mangjil Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Uripok Naoremthong Leikai in Imphal West. We’re up on the second floor of the building where Salam Sorijini Devi lives. It’s a busy neighborhood and we’ve been here for a while. We aren't a big company with hundreds of employees. We’re a group of local farmers who wanted to combine our resources to make things work better. The space we have is quite small, mostly used for keeping our papers in order and meeting up to talk about the latest agro trends or problems we’re facing. Farming in Manipur can be tough because of the geography, but we do our best with what we have. Most of our members are just regular people who have been working the land for generations. We don’t use any fancy language or have a big marketing budget. We just focus on the actual work of growing food and getting it to people. Sometimes it’s a bit messy, and things don’t always go according to plan, but that’s just how life on a farm is. If you come by Uripok, you’ll see it’s a lively spot. We’re right there in the middle of it all, trying to keep the farming tradition alive while making it work in the modern world. It’s practical, it’s hard, but it’s what we know how to do. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
