Over in Sundari Para, specifically in the Santragachi area of Howrah, you will find Usha Martin School. It is tucked away in a spot that most locals know well. We have been around for a bit, watching the neighborhood change around us. The school day starts with the sound of the gates opening and the first few buses pulling in. Our staff members live nearby, so they are part of the same community as the students. We spend a lot of time in the classrooms, obviously, trying to get through the syllabus. It isn't always easy, and some days are more tiring than others. We have a playground that gets pretty muddy when it rains, which happens a lot around here. The building has seen many years of students passing through its halls. We don't go in for anything too polished. It is just a place with desks, chairs, and books. We focus on the daily tasks like attendance and making sure everyone has their lunch. Sometimes we have small programs in the common area, but mostly it is just regular classes. We keep things moving and try to make sure the kids are learning what they need to. It is just a standard part of the neighborhood here in Santragachi. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just providing a space for the local children to study and grow up together without making it overly complicated.
