Kadamtala in Howrah is where you’ll find us, specifically at 9 Bholanath Kaviraj Lane. It’s one of those spots where the houses and the small workshops are all mixed together. TOPMAN INDUSTRIES has been around this neighborhood for quite a while now. The lane is quite narrow, so getting big materials in and out can be a real headache sometimes. We have to coordinate with the rickshaw pullers and the neighbors to make sure the road isn't blocked. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy place where we can get our work done. Most days start early before the heat really sets in. We do a lot of manufacturing here, and the sound of the machines is constant. It gets pretty sweaty in the summer, but that’s just life in West Bengal. We don’t have any polished showrooms or sales people in fancy suits. If you come by, you’ll probably find me or one of the guys covered in a bit of dust. We just try to keep the quality decent and make sure the orders are ready when people come to collect them. There’s a tea stall at the corner of the lane where we all go for a short break. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know the people around here and they know us. It’s just a regular small-scale industry trying to stay busy and keep things moving forward for the future.
