We are tucked away at 3 Muktaram Dey Lane, just off Deshpran Sasmal Road. It’s one of those narrow lanes where you have to be careful how you park. The engineering shop has been here for years, and it’s seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood. We do a lot of technical work, so the place is usually filled with blueprints and various metal parts waiting to be machined. It’s a bit of an old-school setup. We don’t have a flashy front office; you just walk right into the workspace. The walls have grown dark over the years from all the oil and smoke, but it feels like home to us. Deshpran Sasmal Road is always loud with the sound of trams and buses, but once you step into our lane, it gets a little bit quieter, though never completely. We spend a lot of time troubleshooting different projects. It’s the kind of work that requires a lot of patience. Sometimes a job takes all day, and other times we’re finished by noon. We don’t really follow a strict corporate schedule; we just work until the job is done right. The people living nearby know us well, and we’ve become part of the local scenery over the decades. It’s a modest operation, just a group of us who know our way around a lathe and a welding torch and don't care much for fancy talk.
