If you head down to 138 G T Road in Howrah, you’ll find us. This part of the city is always crowded and the noise from the traffic never really stops. L&T has been using this space for quite some time now. The building is older, with high ceilings and that specific smell of old paper and dust that you find in Howrah. It’s not a modern glass tower, but it works for what we do. We spend our days managing the various tasks that come our way, surrounded by the constant hum of the G T Road. Sometimes it’s hard to hear each other over the horns of the buses outside, but we’ve gotten used to it. We don't have any polished slogans or formal statements posted on the walls. Mostly, there are just calendars and a few old photos. The staff here are locals who know the shortcuts to avoid the worst of the traffic. We drink a lot of chai and talk about the local news when things are slow. It’s a very grounded way to work. There’s no pretense here; we just show up, do the hours, and try to keep things organized. It can be a bit chaotic at times, especially when deliveries arrive at the same time as a big rainstorm, but we handle it. It’s just how things go at number 138. We like being near the river, even if it’s busy and loud most of the time. It feels right to us.
