Our place is tucked away at 8/3, Nabanaritala 1st Bye Lane in Baksara, Howrah. If you have ever tried to navigate the narrow lanes around this part of West Bengal, you know it can be a bit of a squeeze for cars. We are quite close to Santragachi, which is always a busy hub, but our specific lane is a bit more tucked away from the main noise. The office itself is just an old building that we have used as a workspace for years. It has high ceilings and those old-style windows that let in a bit of a breeze if the wind is blowing the right way. Usually, it is just very humid and we are all sitting around under the ceiling fans trying to stay productive. We do not have any fancy office furniture or expensive carpets. Just some sturdy wooden tables and a few shelves that are leaning a bit under the weight of all the ledgers. It is a very busy part of the world, and you can always hear the sounds of the neighborhood coming inside—kids playing, people calling out to each other, and the occasional scooter buzzing past. We have been here a long time, and the people on the street know us. We do not put on any airs or pretend to be more than we are. We just work through the day, handle the paperwork, and share some tea.
