You’ll find us at No. 221 on Belilious Road. Anyone who works with iron or steel in this city knows this street. It’s always crowded with trucks and hand-pulled carts, and the air smells like cut metal and old grease. We’ve had this spot for years. The walls are stained with soot and the ceiling is high to keep things a bit cooler, though it never really works in the peak of June. We do a lot of manual work here. It’s mostly about getting the measurements right and making sure the welding holds up under pressure. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here and they come in. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the stoop until it comes back on. That’s just how it is on this road. We have a few old machines that have been with us since the very start. They are loud but they work better than some of the newer stuff we've seen lately. My nephew helps out now, learning how to handle the heavy tools without hurting himself. It’s a lot of physical labor. You go home tired every single night. But there’s a certain pride in looking at a finished piece of work sitting on the floor. We just keep our heads down and do the jobs that come in. No big fuss.
