Being located at 103 Sipcot Industrial Complex means we are surrounded by factories and heavy trucks all day long. This branch of Aro Granite Industries deals with a lot of movement. We have these huge overhead cranes that slide along the ceiling to pick up the granite slabs because they are just too heavy for anything else. It’s a loud place, you have to raise your voice to be heard over the polishing machines. We spend our mornings checking the schedules and seeing which containers need to be loaded. It isn't a glamorous job. Your boots are always covered in a bit of slurry from the cutting process, and the coffee in the breakroom is never quite strong enough. We have a solid crew here who knows how to handle the stone without chipping the corners, which is the most important thing. If a slab breaks, it’s a big waste of time and money, so we are careful. The industrial complex is a bit of a maze, but once you find our gate, you’ll see stacks of granite waiting to go out. We don't do much fancy talk here. If someone wants a specific type of stone, we go out to the racks and find it. It’s about getting the orders right and keeping the machines running so we don't fall behind. The days go by fast when there is this much stone to move for customers.
