Our school is located at Plot Number 407, right near the KEB office here in Hassan. It’s a pretty easy landmark to find if you're in the neighborhood. St Michaels School has been a part of this community for a while. We aren't a massive institution with thousands of kids, which is fine by us. It lets us know the families a bit better. The building is a regular school structure. We have the usual classrooms and a small area for the kids to run around during their breaks. Being near the electricity office means there’s always some activity on the street outside. Hassan is a growing town and we’ve seen a lot of changes around this plot over the years. We keep our gates open in the morning and close them once the bell rings. The staff here are mostly local people who live nearby. We don't have any corporate offices or big marketing budgets. We just buy the chalk and the registers and get on with the teaching. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit muddy, but the kids don't seem to mind much. We try to keep the place tidy but with children around, there’s always a bit of a mess somewhere. It’s a real school with real noise and real people. We just do our work every day and hope the kids learn something useful before they head home in the afternoon. It gets a bit hectic when school lets out and the parents arrive, but that is part of the job. We are just a local place for local kids.
