In the Arjunpur area of Hardoi, we operate Harpalpur Farmer Producer Company. Our official spot is at the home of Satya Bhama and Ashok Kumar. We are a group of farmers from this local area who felt it was time to join forces. Farming in Uttar Pradesh is a way of life that goes back generations in our families. We are just trying to keep that tradition going while making it a bit more sustainable for us. Being a producer company means we can buy our supplies together and hopefully get a better price. We spend our days out in the fields, doing the hard work that needs to be done. It’s not a glamorous life. There is a lot of sweat and long hours involved. We don't have any big mission statements. We just want to grow good crops and be able to sell them for enough money to pay our bills. We talk about the rain, the soil quality, and the cost of seeds. It’s all very down-to-earth stuff. We help each other out whenever we can. If a neighbor is having a tough time with their crop, we see what we can do to help. It’s just the way things are done in a small community like ours. We are proud of our work and our connection to the land in Hardoi. We just keep our heads down and work hard, season after season, hoping for a good harvest.
