Hamirpur Kisan Samridhi Producer Company Limited

So, we are based out of Khiah village, which is in the Hamirpur area. Ramesh Chand, Munish Ram's son, handles a lot of the day-to-day stuff for us here at the office. It’s a group of farmers from around the district who decided to work together instead of everyone just doing their own thing and struggling alone. Hamirpur gets pretty hot in the summer months, which really changes how we have to look after the fields compared to the folks up in the higher mountains. We spend a lot of our time sitting around talking about seeds and where to get water when the sky stays dry for too long. Our office is basically just a room in the village where we keep our records and meet up to have tea. It’s nothing special to look at, just a wooden desk and some old chairs we’ve had for years. My cousin usually stops by to help with the sorting when we have a big load coming in from the surrounding farms. We don’t really do any big advertisements or anything like that because everyone in the village knows who we are already. We just focus on getting the crops from the fields to the market before they spoil in the heat. There’s always something breaking down, like a tractor needing a part from the main town, so it keeps us on our toes. We aren't trying to be some big corporation, just local people from Khiah trying to make a decent living off the land.
