Down in Pahari Bhitari, we don't have much in the way of big offices. We work out of Anuj’s place in the village. This part of Hamirpur is mostly farming land, and we’ve all been doing this since we were kids. The producer company is just a way for us to get better prices for what we grow. We grow all sorts of things depending on the month. It’s a lot of back-breaking work under the sun. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. If you want to know about our produce, you just come and look at it yourself. We try to be fair with everyone in the group. Sometimes there are disagreements about who gets what, but we settle them over some tea. It is a very local operation. We know everyone’s names and whose kids are helping out in the fields this year. Hamirpur has its own set of problems with the soil and the water, but we make do. The pincode 210506 is where we live and work every day. It’s not a glamorous life. We spend a lot of time worrying about the rain and the bugs. But at the end of the day, we are proud of what we produce. It’s just us, working the land and trying to stay ahead of the bills. We don't have a lot of rules, just honesty and hard work. That is how we keep things moving in our small village.
