Aamchi Mumbai

You can find us at Aamchi Mumbai up on the 3rd floor in the food court at DLF City Phase I. It’s a loud place to work because of all the other stalls and the people walking around the mall. We’re in the Food Court DP section. We mostly do Mumbai style street food, which means a lot of chopping onions and frying things. The space behind the counter is actually quite small, so we’re always bumping into each other when it gets busy. We spend our shift taking orders on the touch screen and then yelling them out when they're ready. The mall lights are very bright and there’s no windows, so sometimes you forget what time it is outside. We get a lot of office workers during the week and then families on the weekends. It’s a lot of washing trays and making sure we don't run out of pav. Sometimes the delivery guys are standing around waiting and it gets a bit crowded in front of our stall. We try to keep the stainless steel looking decent, but fingerprints get everywhere. We’ve been here for a bit now and we know the security guards and the people from the other food stalls. We just show up, prep the chutneys, and start serving. It’s a regular job in a busy mall, nothing more and nothing less than that. There is always someone wanting extra chutney or asking where the napkins are.
