Sacred Heart Academy

We sit here on Pipraich Road and watch the traffic go by every morning. Sacred Heart Academy has been in Shahpur for a while now, and the building has seen better days, but it does the job. Usually, the first thing we do is check if the water tanks are full because the supply can be a bit hit or miss in this part of town. The classrooms have those old wooden desks that some of the kids have scratched their names into over the years. We don’t mind it too much as long as they aren't breaking anything. The teachers usually huddle in the small staff room near the entrance to share a thermos of tea before the first bell rings. It gets quite loud once everyone arrives, but that’s just how it is with a school. We try to keep the courtyard clean, though the dust from the road always finds its way back in by noon. There’s a small shop just outside the gate where most of us get our afternoon snacks. Life here is pretty simple and stays the same mostly, from the morning prayer to the time the last cycle leaves the premises in the afternoon. We spend a lot of time just organizing files and making sure the registers are up to date. It’s not fancy, but it’s our daily routine here in Shahpur. We mostly just focus on getting through the lessons and making sure the gate is locked properly at night.
