Astha Public School

Astha Public School is tucked away in the Mahavirpuram Colony, right off Gorakhnath Road in Gorakhpur. It is a busy part of the city, so there is always the sound of traffic and horns coming from the main road. Once you get inside the gates, it gets a bit quieter, but not by much because of the kids. The school building is a solid structure with several floors. We spend a lot of time going up and down those stairs. It is a typical local school where everyone knows everyone else’s business. The classrooms are filled with the usual stuff like wooden benches that have seen better days and posters on the walls. We do not really have a big fancy office; it is just a room with some files and a couple of chairs where we sit and drink tea. The morning starts early here, with buses and rickshaws dropping off students. By the time the afternoon sun hits the courtyard, it is usually quite warm. We have a small area where the kids play, but it is mostly just gravel and some patches of grass. The staff here are mostly local people from Gorakhpur who have been teaching for years. We just do our work, follow the schedule, and try to keep things organized. It is a very practical place without any extra frills or shiny things. It just works for the families living around Mahavirpuram.
