St Pauls School

Over here in Gorakhpur, specifically in the 273001 zip code area, you will find St Pauls School. It’s a sturdy building that has stood for many years, and honestly, it looks like it. The paint might be peeling in a few corners, but the rooms are large and get plenty of light. Every morning, the street outside gets a bit crowded with cycles and parents on scooters. We start early because the sun gets high pretty fast in this part of the country. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we all know each other well. During the winter, the playground gets a bit dusty, but the kids don’t seem to mind much when they are running around. We don’t have fancy digital boards in every room; we still use a lot of chalk and blackboards because that’s what we have always done. There is a small office near the entrance where the records are kept in big steel cupboards. If you walk by during the afternoon, you can hear the teachers’ voices echoing through the corridors. It is just a regular school where we try to teach the subjects and keep things organized. Lunchtimes are loud, as you can imagine, with everyone eating their home-cooked food. We aren't trying to be anything other than a place for the local kids to spend their day learning things. It’s just our daily life here in Gorakhpur. The bell rings at the end of the day, and everyone heads home.
