Mahadev Prasad Singh Junior High School

Our school is right on Gorakhnath Road, very close to the Gorakhnath Mandir. In this part of Gorakhpur, it’s always busy with people and traffic. The school building is an old one, with a big gate that leads into a courtyard. We’ve got students from all over the local area. It’s a junior high, so the kids are at that age where they are starting to get a bit more serious about their studies. We have classrooms with old desks and windows that look out onto the street. You can hear the bells from the temple sometimes. The teachers here have been around for a long time. They know the families in the neighborhood well. It’s a very traditional setup. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that; we just have ceiling fans that hum all day. During the breaks, the kids run around in the courtyard or buy snacks from the vendors outside the gate. It’s a loud and energetic place. We do our best to keep things organized, but with so many kids, it’s always a bit chaotic. The office is full of old wooden cupboards and paper files. We are just a local school serving the kids around here in the 273015 zip code. It’s honest work, and we just take it one day at a time. The principal usually stands by the gate in the morning to see the kids coming in. It helps keep things a bit more orderly during the morning rush.
