M. Rastriya Public School

If you head out towards Kotha in Gorakhpur, you will find M. Rastriya Public School. It is not a very large place, just a few buildings where we get together every day to teach the local kids. Gorakhpur can be a busy place, but out here in our corner, things are a bit more settled. We do not have a lot of bells and whistles. Most of our time is spent just making sure the kids are in their seats and the teachers have their chalk and books ready. It is a lot of routine work, like checking attendance and making sure the roof does not leak when the monsoon hits. We have been here long enough that most people in the neighborhood know the name. We are not trying to be the biggest school in Uttar Pradesh, just a reliable one for the families living nearby. The staff here is just regular people who live in the same area. We talk about the weather, the local news, and how the kids are doing. It is an honest kind of work. Sometimes the playground gets a bit dusty, or we have to fix a broken desk, but that is just part of running a school in a place like this. We do not use any complicated words or have big meetings about strategy. We just open the gates in the morning and do our best to help the students learn something useful before they head home.
