New Kisan Sangam Farmer Producer Company Limited is out in Tirwa. We are located at Muajjam Urf Fatehajad Nagar. It’s a mouthful of a name for a place but that’s where we are. We are a kisan sangam, which basically means a gathering of farmers. We got tired of being pushed around by the middleman so we started our own thing. It’s located in a busy part of the nagar. Some days it’s chaos with tractors and people coming in to talk about their problems with the crops. We don’t have much in the way of air conditioning or fancy chairs. Most of the time we are just sitting on stools and drinking chai while we look at the books. It’s hard to keep everyone happy when the crop yields are low. We try to share the resources we have like tools and knowledge about the soil. Tirwa is a good place for farming but the costs keep going up every year. Our company is just a way to try and balance things out a bit. We are just local guys, no experts from the city. We know the land and we know how hard it is to make a rupee. We just keep working and hoping the sangam stays strong enough to help the small farmers survive another season of uncertainty. It is not about being corporate, it is about staying together as neighbors.
