Our company is called Luhasi Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are located in the village of Luhasi, which is in the Pipraich area of Gorakhpur. Akhilesh Tewari is the person who helps coordinate things from his home address. We are a collection of local farmers who realized that we would be better off if we teamed up instead of trying to do everything by ourselves. Farming in this part of Uttar Pradesh is a lot of hard work and there aren't many shortcuts. Most of us spend our entire day under the sun or in the mud depending on the season. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. Our meetings are usually just us sitting together and talking about what needs to be done for the next harvest. We deal with the usual problems like pests and the cost of transport to Sadar. It’s a simple setup where we try to get the best seeds and share the costs so it doesn't hit any one person too hard. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. We just plant, tend to the crops, and hope for a decent harvest so we can support our homes. It’s a quiet life here in Luhasi. We are just regular people who know the land and want to make sure our farming community can keep going. There’s nothing fancy about it, just hard work and people sticking together.
