Kuntal Bs Farmer Producer Company Limited is a little operation we run out of Post-Turika in the Achnera part of Agra. Bharat Singh Jharothi is the one who helps keep us organized, and we usually gather at his place to talk business. We are all from the local area around Turika and have been farming here for as long as anyone can remember. It is a tough life sometimes, dealing with the heat and the lack of water, so we thought having a company would help us stay organized. We aren't trying to be some big corporation. We are just neighbors who know each other's families and each other's fields. The work is mostly manual, and we spend a lot of time discussing things like seed quality and how the market is doing in Agra. It’s a lot of talking over chai and looking at the sky, wondering if it's going to rain. We handle our own logistics and try to figure out the best ways to get our stuff to where it needs to go. Sometimes we get it right, and sometimes we don't, but we are learning as we go. There are no fancy brochures or websites here. We are just a group of farmers trying to help each other out in a way that makes sense for our small community. It keeps us busy and keeps the food growing.
