Jagpati Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Barabanki district, specifically in a place called Bichhalkha near Ramnagar. We operate from Vijay Pal’s house. This is a very green part of Uttar Pradesh, and we grow a lot of different things here. We started this company because we were tired of the middlemen taking all the profit while we did all the hard work in the hot sun. It’s a group effort. We have about a dozen of us who handle the main stuff, but we represent many more local growers from the nearby villages. Barabanki is known for its farming, and we are proud to be part of that tradition. Our address is 225205. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just want to sell our potatoes or grain for a price that actually pays the bills. Sometimes we meet up in the evenings to discuss which seeds are working best this year. It is a very local operation. We don't spend money on advertising or anything like that. Most of our new members just hear about us through word of mouth while they are at the local market or the tea stall. It’s a community thing. We are just trying to look out for each other and make sure the farming life stays viable for our kids. It's hard work, but it is what we know.
