Bhaukhara Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in Navva Gaon, which is part of the Chhitaura block in Bahraich. Moharram Ali’s place is where the company is registered. Bhaukhara Farmer Producer Company is just a group of us from the village. It’s very rural here. We don’t have much in the way of high-tech stuff. Most of our days are spent checking on the crops and talking to the members. We try to get everyone to work together so we can get better prices for our seeds and tools. It sounds simple, but it’s actually quite a lot of work to get everyone on the same page. We have meetings where people talk over each other. It’s loud and honest. We don't use any corporate jargon because nobody here would understand it anyway. We talk about the price of diesel and the state of the borewell. That’s what matters to us. We’re just trying to survive the season and maybe have a little left over. The weather in Bahraich can be tough, with the heat and the floods sometimes. We just deal with it. We’ve been farming these fields for a long time. The company is just a new way of doing the same old work. We don't have a big staff, just a few people helping out with the books. It’s a community effort, start to finish. Nobody here is getting rich, but we are all working together and that makes the hard days a bit easier.
