Belawa Pragatisheel Kisan Producercompany Limited is located in the Chauri Chaura area of Gorakhpur. You can find us at Belawa, specifically at Ramswaroop’s place. We are a kisan group, which just means we are farmers who joined up to make things a bit easier for ourselves. Gorakhpur has a lot of land and a lot of people working it, but often the small guys get left behind. We started this company to give us a bit more weight when we go to buy supplies or sell what we grow. It is not a corporate job. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails most of the week. We meet up at the house in Belawa to go over the accounts or talk about which seeds worked well last year. Sometimes we have tea and just complain about the heat, but the work gets done. It’s a community thing as much as a business. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy letters. We just write down what we buy and what we sell. The goal is just to keep our families going and make sure the farms in Chauri Chaura stay productive. If you walk through the village, someone can usually point you toward our spot. We are just regular people from the neighborhood trying to make the most of the land we have.
