Rishi Granites

The yard at Rishi Granites is always a bit gray from the stone dust. Being out in Kandasamiyur near North Thayirpalayam Post means we have a lot of space, which is good because these granite slabs take up a huge amount of room. It is heavy work. We spend our days moving stone around and checking the edges for any cracks or bad spots. The sun gets really hot over here in Bhavani, and by midday, the stone is almost too warm to touch comfortably. We aren't really office people. Most of us are out there in the yard with the machines. It is noisy and messy, but that is just how the granite business goes. You can't really keep a place like this clean. We have water running to keep the dust down when we are working, so there are usually a few puddles around the place. People come by to look at the different colors and patterns, and we just let them walk around and see for themselves. We don't do any big sales pitches. The stone is what it is. Sometimes a truck gets delayed or the crane acts up, and that throws the whole afternoon off. We just deal with things as they come. It’s a simple life out here in Chitode, just cutting and moving stone until the sun goes down. We've got our routine down pretty well by now.
