Muruga Granite

You can find us over at 441, Gandhiji Road. We are right in the Surampatti Valasu area, which is usually quite a bustling part of the neighborhood. Being on Gandhiji Road means there is always something happening outside our door. We’ve got the granite slabs lined up along the yard, and they catch the light differently depending on what time of day it is. In the morning, it’s a bit cooler and we try to get most of the heavy moving done before the midday heat kicks in. It is physically demanding work, and we all have the rough hands to prove it. Muruga Granite is a local fixture here. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or anything. We just keep our heads down and handle the stone. There are always people walking by on their way to other shops, and sometimes they poke their heads in to see what we are doing. The air always has a bit of stone dust in it, which is just part of the job. We keep a logbook of what comes in and what goes out, but most of it is just stored in our heads. It’s a straightforward business. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just rely on being here at 441 Gandhiji Road every day. If the gate is open, we are working. That’s how it has been for a long time now.
