Raja Granites

Raja Granites is located out at 121/1, Vaikkalmedu, which is on the Kunnathur Road near Kolappalur Post. If you know Gobichettipalaiyam, you know the area can get quite hot in the afternoons. We have been working with granite here for quite a while. Most of what we do is just unloading trucks and making sure the slabs are stored right so they do not fall over. It is dangerous work if you are not paying attention. The guys in the yard are used to the weight of the stone. We see a lot of local builders and people from the surrounding villages coming by. They usually want something sturdy for their counters or stairs. Granite is good for that because it does not wear out easily. Our yard is not the biggest, but we fit a lot of variety into the space we have. Sometimes the road outside gets busy with tractors and lorries going toward the post office. We just keep our heads down and do the work. There is no big secret to what we do. We buy the stone, we stock it, and we sell it. Sometimes the pieces have small flaws or the colors are not perfectly matched, but that is just how natural stone is. We tell people that right away so there are no surprises later. It is a straightforward business. We close up when the sun goes down and start again the next morning. It is steady work and keeps us busy throughout the year.
