Out here at Tata Sijua, near Bhelatand in the Dhanbad district, things feel a bit different than the bigger cities. We are located at the address linked to Seopu Jan Prasad’s place. Dhanbad is famous for the coal, and you can see it in the landscape all around us. The roads are often covered in a layer of black dust, and the trucks are always moving. It’s a busy life, but it moves at its own pace. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the daily requirements of the site. It’s not always easy work, especially when the sun is beating down on the Jharkhand plains, but we get through it. People in this part of the state are tough and they don’t complain much. We’ve got a small setup here. It’s very local, mostly just neighbors and coworkers seeing each other day in and day out. The post office at Bhelatand is where we get our mail, and that’s a bit of a hub for everyone around here. You won't find anything too polished about our operation. It’s just us doing what needs to be done. We’ve been in this area for a long time, and the connection to the land and the minerals underneath it is deep. It’s a simple life focused on the job at hand. We wake up, head out to the site, and try to make sure everything stays on track for the day.
