Rani Ladies Beauty Parlour

Our little parlour is on Rani Road, right in the Bhuda area of Dhanbad. Being so close to G N College means we see a lot of students walking by every day. The road can get really dusty and loud with all the traffic, but inside it is a bit quieter. We have been at this spot for a good while now. The building is nothing special, just a brick structure along the road. Inside, we have set up some mirrors and those revolving chairs that ladies sit in. We do a lot of threading and hair cutting, mostly just basic stuff that people need for their daily lives. In the afternoons, it gets quite warm, so we keep the ceiling fans running on high speed. It’s not a very big shop, so when four or five people are waiting, it gets a bit tight in there. We usually have the local newspaper lying around for people to read while they wait their turn. Most of the women who come here live in the colony nearby or work at the college. We don't really do much advertising; people just know we are here across from the college grounds. It’s a decent place to work and we know almost everyone who walks in. We just keep things moving, cleaning up the hair after every customer and keeping the water buckets filled. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the hand fans for a bit to stay cool.
